Quality Foods now accepting resumes for Powell River

Quality Foods, which began in Qualicum Beach as Qualicum Foods in 1982, brings their award-winning grocery shopping experience to Powell River this fall.

As one of three founding partners, Noel Hayward believes the time is right for a move to Powell River . “We're very excited to offer our unique brand of grocery retailing to the residents of Powell River and surrounding communities,” states Hayward.

Although no opening date has been scheduled for opening the new Crossroads Mall location, Hayward says the recruiting process begins this week. “It's not too early to get the right people lined up with the right duties,” he remarks. “We want everyone to be in top form once the store opens, and that requires a lot of preparation and planning.”

As a 2007 recipient of Canada 's 50 Best Managed Companies designation, Hayward feels QF is in a position to offer prospective employees good value in the workplace with their above average starting wage, attractive benefits package and an array of incentives and bonuses.

“The store will have a mix of local talent and imports from other QF stores.” Hayward estimates between fifty and 75 spots will be filled initially, made up of front-line customer service people to senior management. We will be looking at all positions and all departments at this time. It's wide open right now.”

QF founders Noel Hayward, John Briuolo and Ken Schley make the presentation to Ian Thompson, president Nanaimo District Hopspital Foundation.

For many years each January and February, QF has run promotions raising funds for health care facilities in each area where we have stores. These range from supporting extended care units to helping fund maternity, pediatric and cardiac care.

This year, as a significant milestone in our 25 years of growth, the founding partners have established the Quality Foods Community Health Endowment Fund with the Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation (NDHF). NDHF is the regional referral hospital for all areas where we have stores, often keeping families closer to home by not travelling to Victoria and Vancouver.

The $75,000 endowment is to support the general needs of NRGH and it's associated facilities to provide health care to the communities we serve and

•  also represents QF's belief in ensuring quality healthcare is available to residents on Vancouver Island

•  is a celebration of our QF people who have been such an important part of our ongoing success for 25 years.

Gift donations may be made at anytime by family, friends and employees of QF in celebration or memory of a loved one, ore simply because they wish to support this fund.

Our traditional January / February fundraiser proceeds and other events will add to this to help keep this fund growing in the future.
